In 2008 me and my wife used Tresemme Shampoo and conditioner which was purchased at the local supermarket store in the UK and after using the products first my wife woke up with smooth bald patches on her head in two place, they grew larger and larger as the days and weeks went by until they reached around almost 4 inches in diameter. She was shocked, distressed and distraught by this ordeal. There wasnt really anything we could do about it, after a visit to the local GP she tried steriod gel for the bald patches which didnt improve her hair loss.
Some weeks after i used the same shampoo and conditioner and woke up with the same situation that my wife woke up in but had around 3 patches the size of a 50p coin, after several days the patches starting getting bigger and spreading to different parts of my head, in total i had around 6 in different places.
Its been almost 8 months now and the patches have gone finally however in places the hair is still growing and becoming thicker.
We have contacted Tresemmme and complained about what happened to both of us and they basically fobbed us off and told us after a Full Labatory investigation the samples were in 'completely satisfactory condition'.
I wanted to ask if anyone else out there has used Tresemme Products and had alopecia?

I've been using Tresemme for the past two years, and over the past two years I have developed alopecia to the front of my hair. It started as two bald spots two the front of my head, which slowly developed into a frontal band of hair loss/alopecia.
ReplyDeleteI went to a dermatologist who diagnosed me with frontal fibrosing alopeica on my first visit. However, on my second appt. with him he said he could not clinically say that it was frontal fibrosing alopecia because their were small aread of hair growth.
I personally had thought that maybe this was happeing to me because for the past two years, I had either been pregnant or lactating, so accounted it to hormones, weight gain, or pregnancy.
Now two years later, I was thinking and thinking about what it could possibly be besides the above mentioned factors... And, I realized that for the past two years I had started and stuck with this shampoo tresemme- So, I have bought a new shampoo and am hoping and praying that it is the shampoo.
I literally have major alopecia and hair thinking, that is developing into further alopecia to the front of my head.
Our daughter started using this shampoo and now has a large alopecia spot. Still not sure if they are related but definitely going to switch.

ReplyDeleteReally! My hair just started falling off! And it wasn't just breakage; they were literally falling off right from the roots! I casually commented this to a friend and you know what she said? Her whole family had been using TRESemme and as soon as they realized that all their hair was falling off, they immediately chucked it out the window! She was using the black one and i was using the red one. No other shampoo has done this to my hair. I've switched shampoos now, lets hope it isn't a long-term effect! :(

I literally looked up "Tresemme + Hair Loss", thought I was crazy but after reading all the post, I think not!! I notice I've been losing a substantial amount of hair with each shampooing. I tried to narrow down all the changes in the last 2 weeks and nothing in my life has changed but the fact that I bought a bottle of Tresemme shampoo that touted it was made with vitamins. I only bought it because I like the pump bottle and thought I was getting a salon quality product. I'm going to stop using it and advise the outcome. I've switched back to my old shampoo, it's paraben and sulfite free. But I have a very STRONG feeling the Tresemme caused my hair to fall out at the root in unusually large amounts!!! I'll be back in 2 weeks to advise result from hot using Tresemme.

Id have giant hair wads by the time i finished shampooing and conditioning.although i havent gone bald my naturally thick hair is significantly flat and super soft. Ive now switched to a different shampoo. Not long enough to see a difference in how much hair i shed.

After that I changed my habit, now I only used light Shampoo one or two times a week. My hair came back. Do not used the Treseme Shampoo and hairspray. My hair recovery process is rough but is going very good now.
Treseme Shampoo and hairspray may be not for me but for others are OK
stop using this tresemme brand!!! i had a very bad hair loss T.T .After stop using tresemme shampoo, the hair loss decrease lil bit but did not stop falling, i change to other shampoos (one after another, but nothing stop the hair loss). my friend having similar problem and she was using tresemme as well which trigger her to have hair loss. but her hair has grow back after using vichy aminexil. i plan to purchase & try vichy aminexil
ReplyDeleteNOTE: You can even get hair loss from their heat protectant "Thermal Creations". I have lost the majority of my hair a year and a half ago and now again because of their heat protectant. DO NOT USE TRESEMME! It causes extreme hair loss and hair fall. It will kill your confidence and make you depressed.

My daughter just called me crying and screaming that after washing her hair with Tresemme her hair was falling out. She sent me a picture and it was a big ball of hair. I used it and it didn't do that to my hair but hers. I am not sure if it does that to a certain type of hair since mine is thin and hers is very thick. Today I am going to go back to Pantene and not buy tresemme.

ReplyDeleteI have been using tresamme shampoo and conditioner for about three months now and the front middle section of my hair has been itchy and I've notice hair loss and with previous shampoos and conditioners I had no problem. My daughter who is 10 also has the same outcome as me using the tresemme product. I also lost a lot of hair the first month using tresemme, I thought maybe it was stress but now I realized it wasn't stress it was the product. Wouldn't reccommend tresemme after mine and my daughters hair loss using the product and seeing all these comments. It's no wonder the bottle has so much product in it, don't know why it's still out there in stores. Seeing all the comments from many people tresemme should be ashamed for putting many people through this as well as my self and daughter.

I showed this to my parents and they said I probably burned it when I was curling my hair, but I haven't used any heat products since last year. I didn't stop to consider that the shampoo I recently bought could be the reason of this tragedy. Every time I ran my fingers through my hair or moved it or something, strands of hair would fall. I realized tresemme was ruining my hair. Now my hair line is jacked up. I started using Acure shampoo and conditioner, hoping that my hair would grow back... But so far no luck. DONT USE THAT SHAMPOO!!!!! ITS CANCER IN A BOTTLE!!! man do I want to SCREAM at the people who made this product.
ReplyDeleteI just bought this diff varieties of tresemme shampoo cuz it was selling cheap. I've used a bottle of the anti hair fall and now on another bottle. It's been a month already and I'm constantly shocked at how much hair I've lost. Like literally every stroke, every wash and every comb. Just keeps dropping. So today i woke up just wanting to Google randomly & came across this. Wtf. Btw apart from hair falling, my scalp became itchy esp front part & i think i feel a swell on both top sides of e crown of the head. Is it a sign of alopecia. Thank you for this post. DeleteI thought I am going crazy but thank God that I am smart and I know my body very well, I decided to google Tresemme and hair loss and boom! I started using the keratine shampoo and hair conditioner like 2 months ago and my hair got shortened! I know it sounds weird but not only I lost hair but my hair length got shortened. I hate this shampoo. I am returning it back to Publix tomorrow. And i read today that this horrible company tests products on animals. Unbelievable! I hope they go bankrupt or burn down.

How do I get my hair back. I've been to doctors, had shots, take. Medication. What do I do? Can anyone help? I don't want to wear wigs. It's obviously embarrassing. Depressing. Can anyone else help?
ReplyDeleteI used their new line of conditioner today... The one with coconut and some others. I put the conditioner on my hair while in the shower. My hair was falling out like someone cut it from the root. A lot of my hair fell out. It has never done that before. I told my daughter to throw away both bottles that I bought. I wouldn't give them to a rabid dog. I will never use anything of theirs again and will tell everyone I know to do the same. These people are wrong to continue to sell this and with no warning whatsoever. These products should not be on store shelves anywhere. My sympathies to everyone who has suffered from the use of tresemme. Sincerely Sharon

ReplyDeleteYes I have noticed that while conditioning my hair with TRESemme my hair is shedding more as a result my hair is becoming thin.
I have tested and proved it is TRESemme as I used a different product and I did not get this result-then after couple weeks i returned to using TRESemme and started getting the same extra shedding of hair.
I have since then thrown it in the bin!

I can't pull it up in a pony tail anymore bc I have all of these small bald spots. I blamed it on stress but thought I would google it. ReplyDeleteI wrote the last comment and have been searching for shampoo ever since I wrote that comment. What I've found is if you google most brand name shampoos you will find complaints of shampoos thats making their hair fall out. So yes I think tresseme is bad but maybe most of them are and not just tresseme. Most of the shampoos have sulfate in them which can cause hair loss. Of what I came across tonight, SLS sulfate is more dangerous than the sulfate made with coconut oil. So I'm leaning towards trying aveda bc I didn't find many claims about it causing hair loss and it uses the coco sulfate rather than the SLS sulfate. I don't know if it's safe but I'll keep researching.

ReplyDeleteSorry to post again but after I wrote my original posts I did nothing but research shampoos. If you go on the EWG website you can search individual ingredients and brand name products and it will tell you the toxicity levels. My conclusion is it is not just tresseme but mostly all commercial shampoos have sulfate in them and even some brands that are sulfate free have other bad chemicals in them. I've concluded after my research that Hugo Naturals shampoo and conditioner is one of the safest choices. The EWG scores them as a one (the scale goes from one to ten with ten being the worst). Since being scored by that website they did add one ingredient that scores a three but all other ingredients score low. If you search brand name popular shampoos most of them have ingredients that score sevens and eights. I've also been dying my hair for eight years and that stuff is worse than shampoo. Even hair dyes that claim to be safe add other chemicals instead of PPD which are actually worse than PPD. I am going to use henna from mehindi.com bc that's the safest option I've found. Since I last wrote I pulled my hair in a pony tail and it's still thin by my temple areas in the front but the sides don't have bald spots anywhere. There were bald spots all over both sides of my head. I also noticed that the slightly receding area on the left front side of my hair which I've had for years has some new hair growing back. I just wanted to let you guys know bc I would hate for you to stop using tresseme and switch to another brand which is just as toxic. I was obsessed with this topic and researched non stop for a full week. I would check out the EWG website and research yourself so you just don't go by my word about the Hugo Naturals brand. ReplyDeleteI switched my daughter to tresemme shampoo and conditioner right before Christmas and in less than a month I noticed a balding spot right in the front of her head on her hairline and in less than two weeks that spot has spread to the entire front of her head and thined out her entire frontal hairline. I took her off the products but the hair loss continues, I am hurting having to watch my baby's hairline go back I don't know what to do if anyone has experienced anything like this and has any insight on what I may b able to do to help her it would b much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteYes same here happened with my ten year old. A complete nightmare. There are a couple of things your gonna have to do. First only wash w/ a natural shampoo( throw tresseme in trash & burn it) 2. Do an union juice on her scalp 3 times a week. 3. Black Jamaican oil, vitamin e oil, rosemary on her scalp, massage her scalp for 5-7 mins a couple of days a week. Get chewable hair, nail, skin vitamins. The onion juice you put directly on her scalp, let sit for 2 hours then wash out. Shame on tresseme, shame on them.

ReplyDeleteTresemme is BULLSHIT!!! I wasted money buying two different brands of tresemme Marula oil and Repair damaged hair! Both made my hair fall and thin constantly!!!!!! I used it for about a month switched to the repair and damage one thinking it would be better but it wasnt!!!!!!!! I see the same balding and thinning hair on me as well as my DAUGHTER!!!! This is ridiculous!!!! My daughter should not have this problem! I have half of my hair then what i did when i started this product!! I hope Tresemme gets put out of Business because this is not right at all! We pay money for good quality hair products not shit that will make our hair fall out!!!! Its ashame I have to just throw away the remaining which is alot because i will NOT pass this on to someone else!!!!!!

I have been using Tresemme for a few years & noticed it keeps my hair smooth & hair growing fast, yet, I have been getting lots & lots of hair falling off. I did though switched to a different brand & I see no hair anywhere on the floor which I usually would see shed allover my home. I'm kind of down though since my hair stops growing fast. Anyway, I would suggest to stay away from that brand.
ReplyDeleteI started using Tresmme last year during may and i experienced tremendous hairfall ever. I stopped using the shampoo after a few washes and got back to my regular shampoo. Though the hairfall stopped after a few months, but till then the damage was done.

ReplyDeleteI too am happy to have found this subject I've been extremely distressed for the same reasons and concerns and thinking there was something wrong with my hair on my body I started looking for what is a good shampoo to use and finally decided to see what is a bad shampoo to use of which Tresemme as what I've been utilizing and pulling gobs of hair out from my head when washing and rinsing so I will try a new shampoo this week that is much more recommended and hopes that this will decrease thank you for sharing.

DeleteI started using Tressemme Keratin Smooth shampoo and conditioner on April 15th. I immediately started losing small amounts of hair but did not realize it was my shampoo and conditioner. 4 weeks later my hair was falling out by the handful. I actually kept these handfuls of hair to take to my doctor so he could do testing to determine the cause. In the meantime, I started thinking of changes in diet, or new medication, and it was then that I remembered I had switched shampoo and conditioner to one made to control frizz. I googled Tressemme and hair loss and found many complaints on the web. I also discovered that the unexplained rash on my body and my extreme itching scalp were also side affects. I stopped using the product around May 23rd, the rash and itching went away withing a week, but my hair continued to fall for a few weeks. My hair dresser said I had lost about 1/3rd of my hair, and what remained was severely damaged. He thought I had cancer, was being treated with chemo, and keeping it a secret. He read the ingredients in the shampoo and told me that DMDM Hydantoin is formaldahyde. I called customer service at Tressemme but never heard back. I have the shampoo, conditioner, and 4 or 5 handsful of hair in a bag in case there is ever a class action lawsuit against Tressemme, like there currently is against Wen for hair loss.

I tried other shampoos which are sulphate free and organic but they didn't give me satisfying results as tresemme gave. Some shampoo made my hair dry rough and with some I got dandruff so finally I decided to use tresemme only. "My personal experience"

I have had a few instances of Alopecia, this last time being the worst. I have huge bald spots on my crown. The hair is growing back in, though very slowly. I did notice that each time this happened I was using Tresemme shampoo. I will never buy it again.

My 10 year old has a bald spot in the front of her head the size of a half dollar silver coin, Just checked her head & a huge piece of hair completely seperates from the scalp. I've been using tresseme for over a year, my mom asks what shampoo are you using, I go tresseme, she goes Cassie(her friend) was using tresseme & her hair was falling out in clumps. This is horrible has caused so much stress on us, can you imagine a 10 year old little girl losing her hair in clumps. What's in this shampoo. I will be back to update.

ReplyDeleteI've been using Tresemme for the last few months and my hair is falling out LOADS and just seems to be coming out everywhere. I honestly thought I had some sort of vitamin deficiency or was ill, the only thing I can put it down to is Tresemme! I've chucked them into the bin and have started to use Plantur 39 and Roots treatment from Lush to get my hair growing and strong again. NEVER again.
ReplyDeleteIt's November 11, 2019 now and the thread is still growing! Hope my hair too. 😢 I already have 2 spots of baldness which I never experience with any conditioner. This is the one and only shampoo and conditioner our family is using since we moved here in the States from the Philippines just this year. I even have wounds, redness, dry and flaky scalp. I don't know what to use anymore to ease the prickly feeling.

ReplyDeleteI am using tresemme low sulphate shampoo since last few months. Trust me, it's the worst product i chose for my hairs. Hundreds of strands fall off every time i wash my hairs. AtleaAt 1 strand fall from room every time i run my fingers through my hairs. I thought it is because of some other factors but now looking at the thing that i changed my shampoo since last time and reading the same experience as of me, i ti think it is the shampoo which is causing so much of hair fall. I am stopping its use from today. I have got very thin hairs in my crown area. I hope it comes back.

ReplyDeleteThis is my first time ever using Tresseme and I had to cut my hair bald because it "locked"my hair. I thought I was the only one until I did some research and came across this site. I'm planning to sue Tresemme...would anyone else like to help or be apart of a class action lawsuit, since it's a lot us that have been affected by this?
ReplyDeleteI started using Tresemme this summer 2019 and started noticing that my hair was falling out. It became really dry and brittle and I could just pull a big clump of it out without any pain. I was blaming it on the pool chlorine but it has to be the shampoo! I stopped using it but then this month I used it again and my hair is worse then before. I'm glad I found all these comments.
DeleteI started using tresemme vibrant protection shampoo and conditioner because it was on special offer for huge bottles and thought everything was fine until my mam asked if I was going bald but I said no that will be my roots growing as I'm naturally blonde but have dyed red hair. So I got a hair dye to do my roots and that's when I realised I have 2 very thin close to bald patches at the front of my head as if my hairs receding as a mans does. My hair is so SO much thinner it can now be held up with my small clip which wouldn't even hold half my hair before! But anyway, I also noticed last week my head has been VERY itchy and when I scratched it I also had dandruff which I have never had before. I couldnt understand why I was loosing my hair I came across stress, anxiety, depression..but I've been happier than ever so I just couldnt accept it then I put it down to maybe it's because I'm 22 and just had my second child 13 month after giving birth to my first so i learnt to accept it and starting googling how to get my hair growth up again, that's when I came across "hairloss due to dandruff" then that led me to searching tresseme and right next to it popped up hair loss from tresseme which led me to this post and I'm so glad it did! Feels like a huge weight off my shoulders. I'm currently on my 3rd day of using both alpecin shampoo, alpecin double effect and hairburst chews. I'm hoping this works to get my hair back! Hairburst I have used before to help my hair grow and thicken, it worked amazingly! And alpecin helped hair grow on my dads head which had been bald for 15 year and also helped my friends hair grow after loosing hair due to alopecia so I have high hopes and will be back with my results 😁🤞

ReplyDeleteAfter using this shit in the black bottle and the conditioner i could notice my hair coming out in the bath and my hair went really dry and i got dandruff which ive never had! My ear has flakes of dry skin and my head is still slightly itchy!! Ive had to put so much coconut oil in my hair to try ans salvage it and also take the ends of because its ruined my once healthy hair...
Im praying this will stop as i only used the product twice about 9 days ago! Was racking my brain to think why has this happened as ive not changed the way i eat or meds...

Deleteokay, so I've had these random patches of dry scaly skin on my scalp and in my ears, and even had flare ups on my eyebrows! I also suffered significant hairloss when I was using treseme shampoo/conditioner back around 2012. I thought it was just due to my anxiety or stress from school. After this continued for another year or so (even when I wasn't stressing), I suspected it might have been the product, so I stopped using it. My hair stopped thinning, but my hair sadly hasnt recovered.
Where do we start a class action suit?
Tresseme mousse made me have severe hair loss simply put when i dont use it this doesnt occur . The catastrophic amount of hair loss it has caused is not ok they should be sued for false advertising .

We should sue this much hair loss when it claims to help hair is false advertising and the severe amount of hair loss is not normal.

ReplyDeleteI started using Tresemme shampoo & conditioner a few months ago and I have about half as much hair now.
ReplyDeleteJust barely touching my hair causes five or more strands to come out. Sometimes it's tiny chunks. I'm so afraid of losing more hair that some days I'm not even brushing it because so much comes out on the brush.
Just chucked all the Tresemme products and ordered my old hair products. Am now desperately hoping it all grows back.
I have used this shampoo for over six months. I just found this forum after suffering tremendous hair loss and scalp tenderness. Bunches of hair clump into my hands after every shower. I have my hair in a loose bun and as soon as I bring it down for the day, whole hair follicles land on my hands and hair tie. It’s quite embarrassing to not realize how much I shed just by touching my hair. Please let me know if a lawsuit is initiated!!

ReplyDeleteI stopped using tresemme a month ago and my hair started thinning out when I started using tresemme a few years back. I am so angry! My hair used to be so full and thick now it is thin. I am from an ethnic background which is known for having long full and thick hair. This is so not cool. I will definitely be taking my part in suing tresemme.

I had been using tresemme just the conditioner and my hair has thinned out so much i thought it was for another reason but now im thinking not ive never had this much hair fall out n my life i brush it before i get in the shower and my drain still gets clogged with a huge handful of it i switched to a different conditioner hopefully ill see a change soon.
ReplyDeleteI've been using tressema shampoo n conditioner for a couple of months now n all of sudden my hair started breaking n falling out at extreme rate. My hair was very healthy n thick n now it's thinning n breaking badly. Now that I have read most of these comments I definitely know it's this Brand. No more Tressema for me.
